Owl Peak Labs Announces Oscar Project and Management Team

STARTUP TO INTRODUCE A PILL CAMERA USING INFRARED TECHNOLOGY

Today, Owl Peak Technologies, Inc. powered by Digital Direct Infrared (D2IR), announced the management team and the “Oscar Project” to build a pill capable of detecting early-stage colon cancer and precancerous lesions. The company was founded by Dr. Taison Bell, Mr. Timothy Harvey, and Mr. Max Quinlin to bring new imaging capabilities to medical diagnostics. “We are excited to bring an innovative option to colorectal screening that is cheaper and more convenient for patients,” says Co-CEO Taison Bell, MD.  


The Management Team

Co-Chief Executive Officer - Dr. Taison Bell is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He also serves as the clinical staff representative for the Executive Committee, assistant director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), and the co-lead for the UVA Health Mortality Coalition. Dr. Bell was born in Boston. MA and raised in Lynchburg, VA. After obtaining a BA from the University of Virginia, he completed his medical degree at Columbia University. He then trained in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was a chief resident. Dr. Bell subsequently completed an infectious disease fellowship at the combined Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s Hospital program, followed by a critical care fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. He is currently enrolled in the executive MBA program at the UVA Darden School of Business.

Co-Chief Executive Officer – Mr. Timothy Harvey is an entrepreneur who recently left finance to found Owl Peak Labs. With a background in strategy consulting, startup advisory, and finance; Mr. Harvey launched Owl Peak Labs to deploy his unique framework that combines vision and execution. Mr. Harvey comes to Owl Peak Labs from MKM Partners where he was an Executive Director focused on capital markets and strategic business development. Mr. Harvey has worked with multiple startups including Masvidal Financial, RocketFrac, Digital Direct Infrared, Executive Produced an independent film, The Athlete Book, and others. Mr. Harvey worked as an Institutional Equity Trader at Weeden & Co., additionally he supported the launch of an internal alternative-allocation platform. Before working in New York, he was a Director at the Chicago hedge fund, Talton Capital Management. Mr. Harvey holds a bachelor's degree from the University of South Alabama, Post-Baccalaureate in Finance from Northwestern University. Presently, he is an MBA Candidate at University of Virginia, Darden School of Business.

Chief Financial Officer – Mr. Max Quinlin is a financial professional with a passion for unlocking value at small, high-growth companies.  Based in Chicago, he is focused on helping Owl Peak Labs maintain a lean and efficient operation.  Prior to joining Owl Peak Labs, Mr. Quinlin was a Growth Consultant at Accelerated Growth Advisors (AGA) in Chicago, where he led and executed on engagements at ambitious, startup companies. Before joining AGA, Mr. Quinlin was a Strategy Consultant in the packaging industry, where he led a restructuring team to streamline operations and prepare the client for acquisition.  Before his move to Chicago, Mr. Quinlin worked in equity and foreign exchange trading in New York City as Chief Financial Officer and Portfolio Manager at Tanaka Capital Management (TCM).  During his time at TCM Mr. Quinlin helped lead the firm to a #1 ranking amongst undervalued growth funds.  He was a foreign exchange analyst at Freepoint Commodities and worked on the foreign exchange sales desk at the Bank of New York Mellon upon graduating from college. Mr. Quinlin holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
